Welcome to DecrypIT

Decrypt: To decode or decipher; to make a coded or unclear message intelligible.
(Pronunciation: dee-crip-it or dee-crip-eye-tee)

My name is Jacai Bass, and I am a Game Designer. Do not waste your time trying to Google me because I have not published any games yet, however, I am hoping to change that in the near future. Check in with me from time to time, I will be sharing that journey with you right here on DecrypIT.

About Decrypt:

DecrypIT began as a way for me to document my journey to becoming a proficient programmer with a concentration in web and mobile app design. I will still be working on my game ideas, but I would like to be a well-rounded developer. I want this to be a space where I can share my thoughts and ideas as I evolve from novice to expert. Since obtaining my degree I have found many resources to learn more about various programming languages. The base of my knowledge is in C# (C-sharp), but I also have some experience with C++, Java, and HTML.

About The Author:

My interest in designing games started later in life, but I have always had a strong fondness for technology. More specifically I wanted to explore the creative powers of technology. When I was a student in high school, I took a web design class where I was exposed to coding in HTML for the first time. This was during the time when the social website Myspace was just starting out. I enjoyed being able to employ some of the web coding techniques I was learning to design my social page. I got pretty good at it, and it was not long before my friends asked me to help them design their pages.

Fast forward to 2005. After graduating high school, I attended college at North Carolina A&T State University (NCAT) where I majored in Architectural Engineering before transferring. Though this was a major that I wanted to pursue from a young age, I found that I no longer had the desire or passion for it. I moved back home and bummed about the local college as a general studies student until I eventually took a long-term college break. I had no focus on school at this time, so I found a job and worked to be a contributing member of society.

In 2013, I re-entered college to study game design after seeing a commercial for Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida. In 2016, I graduated with a BS in Game Design from Full Sail. During my time there, I learned a lot about team leadership, accountability, digital literacy, process documentation, and project planning. Most importantly, my time at Full Sail reignited my love for programming.

Fast forward to the present day, I am currently working as a Class A CDL truck driver. Now, I know I left a huge chunk of the story out here, but trust me, there is nothing big to reveal. Life did what it normally does and if you are not keeping up, it goes on with or without you. Things did not pan out as I expected them to or rather in the timeframe that I expected them to, but I am still moving forward.

If you made it this far, thank you for taking the time to read just a little of my story. If anything is to come from this blog, my hope is that it will inspire someone else to keep pushing beyond those barriers we often place in front of ourselves. Forever resilient.
